Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 21, 2026

Pophood is operated by Wolfbound LLC. We respect your privacy—and we mean it. Here's what you need to know about how we collect, use, and protect your information.

By using this site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you don't, that's cool—just don't use the site.

1. What We Collect

Here's what we collect to make Pophood work:

Account Information

  • Email address, name, username (via Clerk authentication)
  • Profile photo (synced from your auth provider or uploaded)

Profile Information (optional)

  • Bio
  • Family info: number of kids, their ages, experience level (Future Pop, Expecting Pop, New Pop, Experienced Pop)
  • Location (city, state)
  • Relationship status
  • Parenting challenges you're facing

Content You Create

  • Stories (situation, solution, lesson learned—can be anonymous)
  • Questions in The Trenches
  • Responses and reactions
  • Photos you upload to your profile (with optional captions)
  • Tags you add to content

Automatically Collected

  • Authentication session data (via Clerk)
  • Server logs for security and debugging

Analytics (Aggregated, Non-Personal)

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies or collect personal data. Plausible only collects aggregated, anonymous metrics: page views, referrer URLs, browser type, operating system, device type, and country. Your IP address is used momentarily to determine country location, then immediately discarded. This data cannot identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Info

We use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Display your public profile to other community members
  • Show your stories and contributions (respecting anonymous posts)
  • Connect pops through story questions (if you've enabled it)
  • Moderate content and keep the community safe
  • Send transactional emails (like when someone asks a question)
  • Improve the platform based on usage patterns
  • Comply with legal requirements

We do not sell your data. Ever.

3. What's Public vs. Private

Public (visible to all users):

  • Your username and profile photo
  • Your bio and profile information
  • Stories you post (unless anonymous)
  • Questions and responses in The Trenches
  • Photos in your profile gallery

Private (only you and Pophood):

  • Your email address
  • Your identity on anonymous stories
  • Account settings and preferences

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to run Pophood:

Clerk (Authentication)

Handles sign-up, login, and account security. They store your authentication credentials securely. Clerk Privacy Policy

Cloudinary (Photo Storage)

Stores and delivers your uploaded photos. Cloudinary Privacy Policy

Resend (Email)

Sends transactional emails like story questions and notifications. Resend Privacy Policy

Azure Content Safety (Azure Content Safety Data Privacy)

AI service that scans uploaded photos for content moderation.

Contentful (CMS)

Plausible Analytics (Privacy-Friendly Analytics)

Cookie-less, GDPR-compliant analytics that collects only aggregated, anonymous data. No personal information is collected or stored. IP addresses are used only to determine country, then immediately discarded. Plausible Privacy Policy

5. AI and Content Moderation

We use AI to keep Pophood safe:

  • Photos you upload are automatically scanned for inappropriate content
  • AI may help surface or organize content
  • AI is a tool—it may make mistakes

Community members can also report content, which our team reviews manually.

Every story, every question, every response on Pophood comes from a real pop. We will never use AI to generate content or pretend to be a member of this community.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data according to the following schedule:

  • Account data: As long as your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion
  • Content (stories, questions, photos): Until you delete it, or account deletion
  • Anonymous content: Indefinitely (no user identity attached)
  • Server logs: 90 days
  • Moderation records: 2 years (for abuse prevention)
  • Backup data: 30 days after primary deletion

We may retain data longer if required by law, necessary to resolve disputes, or needed to enforce our agreements. When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except as noted above.

7. How We Protect Your Info

We use secure tools and best practices:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Secure authentication via Clerk
  • Database access restricted to necessary services only
  • Regular security reviews

But no system is 100% unhackable—so just know we'll do everything we can to keep your info safe.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access or download your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt out of marketing emails (we don't send them yet anyway)
  • Request we stop using AI on your content

To request anything, just email us at support@pophood.com. No forms. No hoops.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

Information About Children: Our users may share information about their children (ages, number of children, photos). This information is provided by the adult user, not collected from children. Adult users are responsible for any information they share about their families.

If you believe a minor has created an account, or if you have concerns about information shared about minors, please contact support@pophood.com immediately.

12. International Users

If you're visiting from outside the U.S., you acknowledge that your data may be processed and stored in the United States, where our servers and third-party services operate.

  • Security: Preventing fraud and abuse
  • Load balancing: Ensuring site performance

Functional Cookies:

  • Preferences: Remembering your settings

Analytics (No Cookies):

We use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies. Plausible is GDPR, CCPA, and PECR compliant by design. It collects only aggregated, anonymous metrics:

  • Page views and referrer URLs
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Country (IP address is used momentarily, then discarded)

This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users. No personal data is collected, stored, or shared. Because Plausible does not use cookies, no consent banner is required.

We do not use advertising cookies or trackers. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the site from functioning properly. Blocking Plausible has no effect on site functionality.

14. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law. Depending on the nature and scope of the breach, notification may be via email, posted notice on the Site, or both.

We will provide information about:

  • What happened
  • What information was involved
  • What we are doing in response
  • What you can do to protect yourself

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we'll post the new version and update the effective date at the top. If it's a major change, we'll let you know through the platform or email.
